The Ego = Negative Thinking = Fear

I’ve just finished watching Oprah’s new Lifeclass with Eckhart Tolle. What a wonderful series she has put together and one that I believe the world really needs right now! It focussed on the Ego and how the Ego prevents us from being our true authentic self. I think our Egos are the negative thinking part of us. You know that type of thinking when you say to yourself “I can’t do that!” I also think that negative thinking comes from FEAR. Fear of doing things in our lives.

We all have negative thoughts and fears. It is part of our built in or innate human make-up. It helps protect us from danger. It’s part of our primitive brain. We have needed fear in the past to ensure our survival. And of course to some extent we still need fear to protect us from danger, for example, To Stop Us Walking in Front of a Bus!!!

But what happens when most of the fears we have produced in our head are not really real and don’t really serve us?

One of the ways I have found helpful to examine ALL the Negative Thoughts that go in my head (and there is a lot of them!), is to Write it All Down. It’s amazing! When you see what you are thinking and it’s on paper you begin to realise just how ludicrous some of it is! If you want a good laugh then go write down all your negative thinking! 😉

But if you don’t want anyone to see what you have written (in case they lock you up, because it’s pretty crazy stuff you are thinking there) then go talk to Someone who is really Good at Listening! Speaking out what you are thinking is also a very good way to find out what is going on in your head!

If you do either of these, you will begin to become more aware of your thoughts. Then, (speaking from personal experience) once you do either of those, you will begin to recognise when you are in a negative pattern of thinking and that is the first step towards changing from the negative to the positive. Well that’s what I think anyway.

Give it a go and let me know what you Think? 🙂
