I heard this on one of the Abraham Hicks videos. Finally I realise how true this statement really is!
As human beings we always seem to be looking into the future for what we want, what we haven’t got or looking into the past to what we wanted but haven’t achieved/received. This is what keeps us stuck in perpetual unhappiness. We think ‘if I only I had this or that in my life, things would be better’. But I’m realizing that’s not the way to enjoy your life. It’s focusing on being in the present moment! That is what makes for a happy life.
But it’s not always easy to focus on being present. In fact I think it’s one of the hardest things to do consistently, at every moment throughout the day. How many times have you said to yourself, “ok now I am going to focus on the present moment”. So you become aware of what’s going on around you, someone speaking to you, the person walking past you with a worried look in their face, deep in thought, the child holding their parents hand as they cross the street to the playground, the workman knocking off work after a full day on a building site. I don’t know about you, but for me when I try to focus intently on the present moment, within minutes/seconds of doing this, I have drifted off into deep thought land again!
I also think when you focus on being in the present moment a feeling of ease and peace happens within you. I think in that moment you have total acceptance of what it is you are really seeing or witnessing. Your mind stops chatting to you about all the things you should or shouldn’t be doing. There is a stillness, calmness and time seems to stand still. I also think that is when expansion of yourself happens. It’s where you really connect with and become One with the Source within. Source witnessing and experiencing life through your eyes.
That is when I believe you realize that your Journey is the Destination. The Destination being the experiencing of the Present Moment.
What do you think? I would love to hear your views. After all, it’s the wonderful contrast in our lives that makes for such diverse and interesting views. Having contrast in our views and lives is what helps with the evolution of the human race.
