Enjoy Your Life!

images

I went to see Abraham Hicks in Melbourne, Australia, which was absolutely fantastic! I learnt so much from being there listening to Abraham in person and gained so much wisdom from the knowledge that was imparted there. I may even start a separate blog, just to write about all of Abe’s teachings! But the message is always simple and clear with Abraham. Enjoy Your Life! When you begin to enjoy your life and all it has to offer, focusing on the good and ignoring the bad, good things start to happen. They really do! But as human beings I think we have a propensity to focus on the negative first. So it requires a lot of mind training to focus on the positive. But when you do, amazing things start to happen. So if you are lamenting about all the troubles in your life, STOP! Start focusing on all the good things in your life and continue to focus on them until more good starts to happen. It really does work! The more you practice something, the better you become at it and that’s the same for focusing on the good things. You have to work at it!

I’ve been watching the Abraham Hicks DVD’s since then and here are a few things that they suggest that are really helpful to do each day:

  1. Meditate for 15 mins a day (this can be as simple of focusing on your breathing for that amount of time.If your mind wanders off your breathing, that’s ok, just bring it back to your breath)
  2. Acknowledge the beauty of nature all around you, the sky, the warm sun, the trees, the plants, the earth etc.
  3. Get a journal and start writing in it. Call it “The Book of Positive Aspects” and write about all the positive things that are happening in your life.

So what are all the good things that have been happening in your life? Please comment below. I would love to hear all the good things that have been going on.

If you think this post has been useful. Please share with your friends.

Here’s to making the world a better place!

Focus on the Beauty-New Year’s Resolution

I woke up this morning feeling sad and depressed. Not really a good way to be going into a New Year. I realize that I keep focusing on all the things that are not going right in my life. This is just a tad frustrating!! I know it keeps me stuck where I am, with the same old issues showing up.

So I asked the Universe to show me why I keep having these ‘Groundhog Day’ moments. The answer I got was so simple, but so profound.

‘Focus on the Beauty in your Life’ . Ahhhh that makes perfect sense!

So that is exactly what I am going to do to start this New Wonderful Year of 2013!

I am going to start dedicating this blog to all the beauty in my life :-) Whenever I see, experience, hear, feel something that is beautiful, I’m going to post it here.

Here’s the first bit of beauty from 2012, that will carry me into 2013.

Happy New Year Everyone! May it be Beautiful for You Too :-) .

Appreciation vs Gratitude

The penny finally dropped this week when I realized that once you start to Appreciate what you already have in your life, more good starts to flow into your existence!!

I’ve also learned from the Law of Attraction that Gratitude is different from Appreciation. I thought they were one and the same. But according to Abraham they are different.

Apparently Gratitude implies you have overcome a difficult situation. Seeing things from this perspective means that you are still focusing on the problem and not the solution.

Appreciation, however, is being happy with where you are at, regardless of the situation. It’s about seeing all of your experiences as a blessing, both the good and the bad.

Apparently once you Master this, then you are seeing through the eyes of Source or Unconditional Love.

So I have had to correct myself all week to stop from saying “I am Grateful for …..”, to “I Appreciate…..”. I must say it makes a huge difference to your psyche. It’s almost like a relief to focus on life this way. I have also felt a lot happier putting this into practice.

Here are some things I have been appreciating:

My brilliant, beautiful, kind and loving family,

My house,

The food we eat,

My car,

The blue sky and warm weather (we live in the tropics)

The amazing flowers I have seen when I walk the dogs

Our dogs

The kind, helpful people I have encountered this week

You wonderful people who read my Blog, Tweets, Facebook and Link-in posts!

WordPress, Google, You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In!

My Apple iPhone, iPad and iMac!

So that’s what I have experienced. Let me know if you try out  ’being Appreciative vs being Grateful. I’d be interested to know what you experience too!

Love Dimitie xx

P.S. I’m now also going to be dedicating this blog and all my other social media avenues to ‘Appreciation of this Amazing Life’ and see what happens ;-)

Accessing Positive Memories From Your Past to Create a Positive Future

I was lying in bed at 4am wide awake and I was reflecting on the past days events when an amazing thought popped into my head.

I had been thinking about how I use my memory. I would say 80% of the time when I access a memory of a past event, it would be about what had gone wrong in that situation. This not only causes me stress and anxiety but also (if you believe in the Law of Attraction), sets up a chain of events to carry that negative thought into the present moment and attract it into my future (if that thought is repeated over and over, which then forms a belief) .

Then it came to me, like an epiphany! What, if when you think about that same event, you focus on the positive aspect of it? Read More

James (Jim) Lionel Harris 1939-2012 (My Amazing Father-in-Law)

My Father-In-Law passed away on the 9th of June and we are all grieving the loss of his physical presence. He was an amazing man! He was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in 1972 and it may be possible that he was the longest surviving person of this condition. He was 73. He was an incredibly strong man and no matter how much he suffered with his condition, he never complained. It didn’t stop him from living the best possible life he could, whether that was operating the radio at the local Volunteer Marine Rescue on the Gold Coast, Australia, furthering his vast knowledge about coins and stamps, taking the grandkids for rides on his motorised wheelchair, tending to his veggie garden and fruit trees or watching the football. Even though he did all this and much more, he always had time to sit and have a cup of tea and a chat to anyone who wanted to. His perception of everything happening around him was incredible, even though he never let on with what he knew. He had a funny sense of humour and a quick wit. There were many wonderful stories about the funny things he used to get up to with friends and family, that were shared by all at his funeral. We will all miss him tremendously.

I’ve observed some interesting things that happen when someone passes. Firstly we remember the all good things about them. All differences of opinions, arguments, disagreements get swept aside as we focus on all the positive things that the person who has passed achieved with their life. Tremendous love and support is given from friends and family to help those that are grieving. The prevalence of love, kindness, caring and support at Jim’s funeral was incredible! It was a real celebration of his life, rather than a commiseration.

When someone close to us dies, it is only natural to grieve. It is part of our emotional makeup that misses them in physical form. But it also a reminder for us to live the best possible life here on earth and to make the most of every experience we have. I also think it is important for us to know that they are always guiding us with love and support from the spiritual realm. It gives us a sense of comfort and reassurance if we know this. The day after Jim passed, there was the most beautiful rainbow.

We knew it was a sign from Jim that he was ok. It gave us all a great sense of comfort to know that he was happy and free from the pain and discomfort he had suffered leading up to his passing.

So I think it is good to remember, that those that we love are not gone from this life forever. Only in the physical sense. I firmly believe a person’s soul, the very essence of who they are, still lives on, helping to guide others with love and support.

Thank you Jim! We Love You! xx
